Describing the Cumberland Presbyterian Church cannot happen without mentioning
MISSIONS. As our birth started as a mission to the great-uncharted West, so still our
desire is to reach the “uttermost” with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Visit our national
website at:
www.cumberland.org/bom.

With more than 12% of our denomination having non-English languages as their primary,
the Cumberland Church is working hard in American as well as in other nations to bring
the Gospel to various ethnicities.

New Hope is no different. We are proud to house the Cross Cultural Offices of the
Cumberland Presbyterian Church in our facilities. Reverend Lynn Thomas is director of
this mission’s ministry. Our Cross Cultural Ministry is reaching out to Hispanic, Korean,
Sudanese, and many other nationalities just in the states alone. Add to that the sixteen
nations we are presently in, and you can see that the CPC is serious about missions. To
learn more about the Cross Cultural aspect of the Cumberland Church visit:

New Hope recently had two full time missionaries to come off the field of work. We had
Wendy Skinner serving in San Lucas, Guatemala at a children’s home called
Casa
Shalom. There, Wendy served as a medical missionary. She ran medical clinics at two
homes. The last clinic was built by the CP church. Wendy over saw the construction
work. Now, Wendy is home, recently married and seeking the Lord as to what she is to
do now.

Paula Richardson was also a missionary at a children’s home in Guatemala. Paula was
involved in promoting awareness of the home and communications to supporters. During
her time at
Casa Para Ninos Aleluya, Paula adopted a young Guatemalan girl, Fatima.
Only two at the beginning of the adoption procedures, Fatima was renamed Emma. Six
years later, Emma and Paula are also finally stateside to begin life as a family in
America.

New Hope continues to support missionaries on various continents around the world.
Also, we regularly go on and make up mission trips to help those in need of God’s love
in a practical way. We travel within the boundaries of the United States as well as to
various mission fields far beyond our borders.
